Winds Against Progress
Age Range: 13 – 16 years
Donald is fascinated by the western lifestyle which accounts for his love and desire for further studies in the university. But his father does not reason the same way. Despite opposition, Donald’s dream comes true through the assistance of his only educated uncle and his former school principal, who feel that such a brilliant chap should not be wasted in a carpenter’s workshop. Donald’s victory and success are not achieved on a silver platter of gold. It is an effort fraught with misfortune, sorrow, suffering and blackmail. The novel confirms the popular saying that “uneasy lies the head that wears the crown”.
